Social Worker Aide

Reports to:Social Work Supervisor
Grade/Wage:Grade 4 / $20.30 to $28.66
FLSA Status/Hours:Exempt, up to 40 Hours per week

Summary



The Social Worker Aide position works directly with clients and CFS (Children and Family Services) case managers. This position requires the ability to work individually and with small groups of clients on tasks including but not limited to; money management, parenting skills, personal hygiene, nutrition, housing, safety services, and supervising family interactions. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily and in a timely manner. The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.
  • Arrange and supervise family interaction visits when children are placed outside of the family home.
  • Provide transportation to and from family interaction, community visits, or medical appointments when necessary.
  • Provide budgeting assistance to families.
  • Provide in-home parenting education to families.
  • Work with families on creating behavior management plans for children in their home.
  • Help families locate and access community resources.
  • Help empower families to advocate for their children’s needs.
  • Complete written reports and documentation according to agency guidelines and requirements.
  • Attend case staffing, unit meetings and applicable training.
  • Ensures that client confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Provide agency access according to Wisconsin State Statutes and Access Standards.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in human services or a related field is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance.


 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Knowledge of child development and parenting techniques.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.


 

Technological Skills



Requires the knowledge to skillfully operate computer hardware and software, including the Microsoft Office Suite and basic office equipment.
