Environmental Health is the science and practice of preventing injury and illness and promoting well-being by: 
  • Identifying and evaluating environmental sources and hazardous agents and
  • Limiting exposures to hazardous physical, chemical, and biological agents in air, water, soil, food and other setting that may adversely affect human health
The Langlade County Health Department became an agent for the WI Department of Agriculure, Trade & Consumer Protection in July 2023. LCHD is responsible for the licensing and regulation of retail food establishments, campground, swimming pools, water attractions, hotels, motels and tourist rooming houses. LCHD ensures that all establishments are following state and local regulations. All licensed establishments that serve the public are inspected by the Langlade County Health Department annually by the Environmental Health Specialist.
