Department
Head: Honorable Fred W. Kawalski
Oversight Committee Agendas/Minutes
Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Monday thru Friday.
The Langlade County Juvenile Court is
located within the Probate Office, in Room 102 of the Langlade
County Courthouse and is open during the regular courthouse business
hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Juvenile Clerk, Joy Pecha,
and her deputy, Brenda Mayr, are the custodians of all formal
juvenile records including terminations of parental rights,
delinquencies and children in need of protection and services.
In addition, citations (issued for such violations as truancy,
possession of tobacco, disorderly conduct, underage alcohol,
shoplifting, etc.) are processed in this office also, with the
exception of traffic citations issued to juveniles 16 and over which
are processed in "adult court." (Please contact the
Clerk of Courts office at (715) 627-6215.) Any juvenile who
receives a citation must either post bond prior to the court date or
appear in court as scheduled to enter a plea to the charges. A
"mandatory appearance" requires the child's attendance
even if bond has been posted. All checks should be made
payable to Langlade County Circuit Court.
Langlade County is one of only several
Wisconsin counties with court attached intake workers. Our
Juvenile Supervisor, Craig Hotchkiss, and the Intensive Supervision
Coordinator, Kim Schwarz, work with the delinquent youth of our
community from the time a referral is received from our Police and
Sheriff's Departments until such time as the child has successfully
completed juvenile supervision. Mr. Hotchkiss and Ms. Schwarz
assist those victimized by juvenile offenders in seeking restitution
and further work with youth to complete court ordered community
service.
Any of the above individuals may be reached
in office or by calling the Juvenile Court at (715) 627-6214 or by
faxing to (715) 627-6329.
Formal hearings for the Juvenile Court
are
normally heard on Monday mornings. To schedule, please
contact the Juvenile office at (715)627-6214. For all other
inquiries you may contact the juvenile Court as noted above.
Please bear in mind, however, that terminations of parental rights
and juvenile court proceedings are confidential
and only limited information
will be released without a court order.
NOTE: Adult probation
is a function of the State of Wisconsin, Division of Corrections,
and should be contacted at (715) 627-6262.
