Services:
Immunizations
Clinics: are held on the 4th
Wednesday of each month from 9:00a.m.
to 4:00p.m. Please bring your
child's immunization record with you when you come. No appointments are
needed. There is no cost for immunizations.
Blood Pressure Clinics:
are held every
first Wednesday from
1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m.
A nurse will monitor your blood pressure and make necessary referrals.
Information is also available regarding diet and cholesterol. For more

Early Diagnosis of Cancer for
Women: testing is available for
women ages 45-64. Women need to come in and apply for the WWWP program and
receive a "pink" card. You need to present this card to your physician for
a mammogram, pap and pelvic exam. For more information or to schedule an

AIDS/HIV Testing, Counseling
and Partner Referral: is provided
by our nurses.
Child Health Screening:
are physicals done by our nurses which are acceptable for Day Care and
Kindergarten entry. Individuals must call to make an appointment which
takes approximately 1 hour to complete. Included in these physicals are the
physical exam, hearing, vision, growth and development, nutrition assessment
and counseling and immunizations. To make an appointment, please call

Lead Screening:
For children 1-18 years of age is done
by appointment (627-6250). The nurse obtains a small sample of blood which
is then sent down to the State Lab of Hygiene. Results are received within
2 - 4 weeks. If a blood level is higher than 10mcg, the nurse will contact
you with further information.
Prenatal Care Coordination:
Prenatal Care Coordination (PNCC)
services is available for Medicaid/Badgercare
recipients to help you in obtaining
medical and community resources needed for the healthiest possible birth.
There is no charge to you for this service and a nurse will answer your
questions and concerns, give you information about your changing body,
information about available financial, medical and community resources to
help you have a healthy pregnancy and baby. Visits can be made in the home,
at school, in the office, at the WIC office or by phone. All visits are
confidential. Please call the Langlade County Health Department at (715)
627-6250 to schedule an appointment or notify the dietition at your WIC
appointment that you are interested in this service.
First Breath: A free
program to help pregnant women quit smoking both during their pregnancy and
remain so after they give birth. The goal of First Breath is to make each
baby’s first breath, a healthy breath. Cessation and health education are
offered. Incentives are available for participants during the course of
counseling. There is no income requirement. Call (715)627-6250 to set up an
appt.
Newborn visits:
Congratulations on the birth of your new baby! You will be receiving a call
from one of the Heath Department's nurses on staff, who will contact you to
make a home visit. This service is not
determined by income level. During the home visit, the nurse will see
how the parents are doing, do a brief exam of the baby including weight and
height. Answer any questions you may
have and discuss the different types of services available throughout the
county. If you live in the country, she will also bring along a water test
kit to test for bacteria and fluoride nitrates in your water.
School Health Promotion:
The Health Department goes to each school in the county and provides hearing
and vision screening to the different classes. Injury prevention, safety
education and sexuality classes are also provided.
Car Seat Checks: Free care
seat checks are available the 2nd
Tuesday of each month from 4-6 p.m. at the City of Antigo Fire Department.
Stop by and let one of the certified car seat technicians check your car
seat to be sure it is installed properly to help keep your children safe. We
also have car seats available for purchase. For more information call

Indoor Air Assessment and
Training: Radon test kits are
available from the Health Department for a very minimal charge. Results are
sent to you within 2 - 4 weeks.
Well Water Testing:
Test kits are available free of charge to individuals who have children who
want to test their water for fluoride. When results come back, the
individual brings the test results to the Health Department to receive their
fluoride according to the age of the child and the test results. Built a

Teen Peers:
are teens who are trained to teach others
about HIV/AIDS. There are teens in Elcho, White
Lake and Antigo who do teaching in
different grades at the schools. If you know someone in Grade 9-12, who
would like to be trained to be a teen peer, please call Karen Hegranes at

Human Health Hazard
Investigations: If you or someone
you know has a health hazard complaint, contact Holly Matucheski,
who is the Health Officer. (715)627-6250.
Rabies Control Plan and Follow
Up: The Rabies Control Plan is
based on the Wisconsin State Statutes. For a copy of the plan, contact the
Health Department. All animal bites are reported to law enforcement with
follow-up by the Health Department. If you have any questions, contact

TB Skin Tests:
are provided to individuals for a minimum charge. These tests are done on
Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. You should call before you come in to make
sure there is a nurse available to administer the test. You need to return
within 48 hours to have the test read.

Coalition: Local leaders on a
mission to promote a healthier community through prevention cessation and
education on the dangers of tobacco use. Monthly meetings are held,
call ahead for meeting dates and times,

Prevention Specialist: Melissa
Schroepfer is available to disperse
information regarding smoke-free environment, local and state wide cessation
programs, education to community members both young and old,
as well as outlets to specialized members of the tobacco community.
Cessation counseling is offered free for any
community members, irregardless of age. Contact the Health
